Antone Tony Vega, 82, of Kapaau, died Sept. 12 at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hamakua, he was a former Kohala Sugar Co. heavy equipment operator, retired Hawaii County grounds maintenance worker and a Kalahikiola Congregational Church grounds maintenance worker. He was also a member of the Kalahikiola Congregational Church and Kohala Puerto Rican Social Club.

Friends may call from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Kalahikiola Congregational Church, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., followed by a burial at the Wainaia Cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by sons, Alan Vega of Tacoma, Wash., Richard (Joycelyn) Vega of Beaumont, Calif.; daughters, Marilynn (Raymond) Kanehailua of Kapaau, Raynette McGiness of Las Vegas; brothers, Alfred (Katherine) Vegas of Hilo, Nicholas Vegas of Kapaau, Raymond (Christine) Vega of Hawi; sister, Roseline (Richard) Noble of Hawi; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
